Waziri wa Ardhi Nyumba na Maendeleo ya Makazi Dkt Angeline Mabula amewatahadharisha wananchi wanaosubiri kulipwa fidia kupisha mradi wa uchimbaji madini wa Tembo Nickel wilayani Ngara mkoa wa Kagera kujiepusha na mikopo umiza.
Dkt Mabula alisema hayo tarehe 23 Julai 2023 katika kijiji cha Bugarama wilayani Ngara mara baada ya kutembelea mradi wa uchimbaji madini ya Tembo Nickel kwa lengo la kupata taarifa ya maendeleo ya ulipaji fidia kwa wananchi wanaopitiwa na mradi huo akiwa katika ziara yake ya siku moja mkoani Kagera.
Alisema, anawasikitia wale wananchi wote walioingia katika mikopo umiza kwa kueleza kuwa watalazimika kulipa kiasi kikubwa cha fedha na hivyo kutoona faida ya fidia ya mali zao.
‘’Hela yako yote umeshaikopa unakwenda kulipa pesa nyingi kwa pesa ndogo uliyoichukua mwisho wa siku unarudi katika umasikini bila sababu, niwaombe msikimbilie kukopa pesa unayokwenda kulipa ni asilimia kubwa ya kile ulichochukua’’ alisema Dkt Mabula
Alisema, wanaowakopesha washajua muda mfupi ujao wananchi hao wanapata pesa hivyo wanajaribu kuwawahi watoe pesa leo lakini watakuja kulipa kiasi kikubwa cha fedha kuliko ilivyostahili jambo litakalowafanya kurejea kwenye umasikini.
Amewataka viongozi wa vijiji vyote vinavyopotiwa na mradi huo kutoa elimu ili wananchi wasije wakasikitika na kulia hapo baadaye kwa kuwa mara watakapopokea fedha za fidia basi waliowakopesha watakuja kudai fedha zao.
Aliwataka wananchi ambao hawajakopa kuacha kufanya hivyo kwa kuwa wanahitaji kuwa na maisha endelevu, kuwekeza ambapo alisema iwapo wanahitaji mikopo basi waende benki kwenye riba nafuu.
Awali Waziri wa Ardhi Nyumba na Maendeleo ya Makazi Dkt Angeline Mabula alipata taarifa ya maendeleo ya ulipaji fidia wananchi wanaopisha mradi katika eneo la mradi.
Akiwa katika eneo hilo, Waziri Dkt Mabula alielezwa na kiongozi wa mahusiano ya jamii Bernard Sefu wa Kampuni ya Tembo Nickel kuwa, mgodi huo uko ndani ya kata tatu zenye vijiji vitano vinavyopisha mradi wa uchimbaji madini ya Nickel ambapo jumla ya wananchi 1,339 wanatarajiwa kulipwa fidia huku 349 kati ya hao wakijengewa nyumba kutokana na kuwa na makazi kwenye eneo la mradi huo.
Sefu alisema kuwa, mgodi huo umechukua hatua mbalimbali kwa kushirikisha viongozi, wataalamu na wananchi wanaopitiwa na mradi huo lengo likiwa kuhakikisha kila mwananchi anayehamishwa kupisha mradi anapata fidia stahiki kwa kufuata sheria za Tanzania na kanuni za kimataifa (IFC).

Januari 19 mwaka 2021 Serikali ya Tanzania na kampuni ya LIfezone Metals Nickel Limited zilisaini Mikataba uliowezesha kuanzishwa Kampuni ya Tembo Nickel Corporation Limited ambayo ni ya ubia kati yake na Serikali.
