“Serikali yetu imejipanga kuboresha huduma za afya na kupambana na magonjwa yasiyoambukiza na mfano wa juhudi hizi ni Serikali kutenga eneo kilipojengwa kituo hiki ambacho kimepanga kuhudumia wagonjwa 100 kwa siku kwa matibabu ya mionzi, wagonjwa 25 kwa siku kwa tiba za kemikali na wagonjwa 25 kwa siku kwa uchunguzi wa saratani na huduma za chanjo.” Amesema Dkt. Dkt. Biteko ametoa rai kwa uongozi wa Hospitali hiyo kuhakikisha wananchi wote bila kujali dini, kipato na itikadi zao wanapata huduma hizo muhimu za afya.
Aidha, ameupongeza Mtandao wa Maendeleo wa Aga Khan (AKDN) kupitia Taasisi ya Huduma za Afya ya Aga Khan Tanzania kwa ushirikiano na Taasisi ya Saratani ya Ocean Road (ORCI) pamoja na Kituo cha Tiba Bugando (BMC) kwa kubuni mradi shirikishi kati ya sekta ya umma na sekta binafsi uitwao Mradi Mtambuka wa Saratani Tanzania (TCCP) ambao unaunga mkono juhudi za Serikali katika kupambana na Saratani.
Ameeleza kuwa, mradi huo wenye thamani ya jumla ya Euro milioni 13.3 (shilingi 35 bilioni) umekuwa na mafanikio mbalimbali ndani ya miaka minne ya utekelezaji wake ikiwemo kutoa mafunzo kwa wahudumu 464 na watumishi 400 ngazi ya jamii kuhusu huduma za saratani.
Kupitia mradi huo wanajamii zaidi ya milioni 4.5 wamepewa elimu kuhusu saratani, watu takriban 700,000 wamepimwa saratani na zaidi ya wagonjwa wapya 39,093 kugunduliwa kuwa na saratani kupitia vipimo stahiki na hivyo kuwawezesha kuanza kupata tiba stahiki.
