WAZIRI MKUU Kassim Majaliwa ameiagiza Wizara ya Nishati iratibu ununuzi wa mafuta kutoka mikoa ya Kaskazini na Kanda ya Ziwa ili yachukuliwe kutokea Tanga badala ya Dar es Salaam.
Ametoa agizo hilo leo (Jumamosi, Julai Mosi, 2023) mara baada ya kukagua uboreshaji wa bandari ya Tanga na hifadhi ya mafuta kwenye matenki ya GBP, eneo la Raskazoni, jijini Tanga.
“Mikoa ya Mara, Mwanza, Manyara, Arusha, Kilimanjaro inafuata mafuta Dar es Salaam sababu ya mazoea lakini upatikanaji rahisi ni hapa Tanga, upatikanaji wa haraka sababu ya teknolojia ni hapa Tanga. Wizara ya Nishati watekeleze maelekezo haya ili wauzaji wa mafuta wayafuate Tanga,” amesema.
Waziri Mkuu amesema endapo makampuni yote ya mikoa ya Kaskazini yatachukulia mafuta Tanga, uchumi wa mkoa huo utakua kwa haraka.
Akielezea kuhusu uwekezaji kwenye hifadhi hiyo, Waziri Mkuu amesema uwekezaji uliofanyika ni mkubwa kwani matenki yaliyopo yanaweza kupokea mafuta moja kwa moja kutoka bandarini na kuhifadhi lita hadi milioni 200. “Huu ni mkakati wa Rais wetu Dkt. Samia Suluhu Hassan wa kuendeleza uchumi wa nchi yetu. Wakati Serikali inaongeza uwezo wa kusimamisha meli zaidi bandarini, tutahakikisha kuwa uwekezaji huu unaleta faida kwa mwekezaji na unaongeza ajira kwa wanaTanga,” amesema.
Mapema, akitoa taarifa kuhusu hifadhi ya matenki ya GBP, Mkurugenzi Mtendaji wa GBP, Bw. Badar Sood alisema ujenzi wa matenki hayo ulianza mwaka 2002 yakiwa na uwezo wa kuhifadhi lita milioni 25 huku wakipokea meli zenye uwezo wa lita 6,000 tu.

Akiwa kwenye bandari ya Tanga, Waziri Mkuu alipokea taarifa ya uboreshaji wa miundombinu na kuelezwa kuwa ujenzi wa gati mpya umekamilika kwa asilimia 99 na kwamba zimebakia kazi ndogo za kukamilisha mifumo ya umeme.

Awamu ya kwanza ulihusisha uchimbaji wa eneo la kuingilia meli na kugeuzia lenye urefu wa km.1.7 na upana wa mita 75 kwa kina cha mita 10 na awamu ya pili ni kujenga gati yenye urefu wa mita 450,” alisema Naibu Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa TPA, Mhandisi Juma Kijavaro.
